Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors 2006, Secaucus, New Jersey...

Oh yeah baby...I'm so going to this thing. After I had such a great time a month ago at the Horrorfind Weekend in Hunt Valley, Maryland, I'm damned sure going to get my ass up to Jersey for this thing.

Among my reasons for needing to go (not just "wanting" to go) is to meet up with J.T. Petty and others.

And then there's the dealer's room...man, I'm sure I'm going to spend waaaay too much money at the WoH. It's like a shopping mall, but every single store is horror related! Woo hoo!

Yeah, yeah...I've heard that the WoH is much geekier than any other horror convention...all the freaks come crawling out of the woodwork to attend. Still, unless some seriously bad shit happens in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to be there...microphone and camera in hand...talking to anybody and everybody that cares to talk to me. Shit, man! I'm a journalist! That's what I do. Trust me when I say that I'll come back with some pretty cool news, stories, and pictures to share with my readers.

WoH or bust!

Let's Scare Jessica to Death

I remember this flick from my childhood. I distinctly remember sneaking down to the TV room when I was a kid...probably no more than five or six years old...and catching Let's Scare Jessica to Death on the late, late, late horror show one Saturday night. It scared the ever-living crap out of me, as I recall. It's one of those films that contains a few select images that have stuck with me for all these years.

Now, all this time has passed, and I hadn't seen the film for probably at least twenty five years. So, when I picked it up on DVD last week, I had high hopes that it would still have that same chill-inducing effect on me. Man oh man, am I happy to tell you that not only am I not "let down" by revisiting Let's Scare Jessica to Death, but it's actually better than I remember it being.

Like Rosemary's Baby (another favorite of mine), Jessica operates on a much more psychological level than do most horror flicks. I'm going to save most of my thoughts on this thing for my full review (coming shortly), but believe me...you should go out and pick this sucker up. If, like me, you remember the film from your youth, then you'll be amazed at this release (even though it is quite bare bones). If, on the other hand, you've yet to witness Let's Scare Jessica to Death in all its fog-shrouded glory, then buddy...you're going to have a great time with this one...
